CUSTOM INSTRUMENTS

An instrument made by the Violin Shop of Old Carmel is comfortable for the player to perform with and offers a robustly rich and carrying voice. We produce handmade violins, violas and cellos with spruce and maple woods aged a minimum of two decades and some as long as a century or more.

We offer two lines of custom instruments. Our professional level is made from very beginning to end by Alex Leyvand. Our student line is hand-finished by Alex and our other makers to offer rich and vibrant tones unbounded by their elegant, polished varnish. Each of our instruments is unique with a variety of pleasing aesthetic patterning.
